Lessons Learnt

I sit in stillness with my 90+ uncle. He is so at peace with what is at the present moment. I can even feel his joy. After an hour of silently bathing in his blessing and love, I ask him - what is it that you want? And he says - I want all my children to be happy and you are my child too.

I have such deep appreciation for everything in this moment.

In the silence he teaches me all over again that life is beautiful. I quickly run through precious moments when he would hold our fingers - his little daughter's and mine and take us to the Malai Kottai temple. We would walk slowly and he would in his gentle kind voice share what he thought was important with us.

I don't really remember what it was that he said. But I sure remember the feeling I had - one of wellness, one of peace and one of joy as we interacted during these brief stretches of time.

I deeply appreciate your presence in my life Appa! (yes, I call him Appa too!)

Happy Birthday!
